Due to recent growth, we have added a Tax Analyst position.
The Tax Analyst will be responsible of managing the projects of the tax department including new vendors, acquisitions, billing audits.
and planning business continuity.
This position will contribute to the income tax, sales/use tax, tire and other indirect transactional taxes, and property tax processes for Pomp's Tire Service.
The primary focus of the position will be on sales and use tax compliance and due date management.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Responsible for the monthly process of collecting, organizing, and analyzing sales/use and tire user fee tax data used to prepare returns for filing, preparation, and submission of sales/use and tire tax returns and the timely remittance of payments to complete the compliance cycle.
Assist with the maintenance and periodic review of sales tax treatment of product portfolios by state.
Review and manage exemption and resale certificates for completeness and accuracy to determine appropriate taxability of customer orders by state.
Prepare account reconciliations for specified tax accounts.
Gather and analyze data and assist with the preparation and filing of personal property tax returns.
Review and respond to notices from taxing jurisdictions.
Assist with the management of financial statement, income tax, sales/use tax, and/or property tax audits.
Work with cross functional teams to analyze issues related to sales/use tax calculations.
Troubleshoot and identify system errors impacting sales tax calculations.
Conduct tax research, as assigned.
Conduct research on tax rates and application of tax to new and existing locations and product types.
Research and evaluate changes in multi-state sales/use tax laws and regulations.
Provide correct sales/use tax calculations, including tax rates, tax exception rules, and product and customer mapping to ERP systems.
Work within existing internal controls to ensure compliance.
Offer guidance and solutions to other departments and educate them on taxability rules.
Review non-trade invoices for the self-assessment of use tax.
Provide excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Assist with the gathering of information used to prepare the federal income tax return workpapers and associated calculations.
Assist with the management of the business license process including monitoring due dates and processing payments to maintain compliance.
Assist with the annual report cycle process and monitor due dates.
Assist with gathering information needed for 1099 reporting.
Assist with identifying and implementing tax savings strategies.
Other duties as assigned.
Continually study updates to tax law, cases and rulings, including federal, state and local statutes that impact relevant tax filings, credit opportunities, book/tax differences, apportionment, nexus, deductions, and documentation.
Position requirements Bachelor's degree 1-3 years of experience in sales/use and/or income tax or accounting with qualitative/quantitative tax analysis Strong analytical/critical thinking skills Excellent organizational skills Accuracy and attention to detail is essential Advanced Excel skills Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects and deadlines Strong oral and written communication skills Proficient knowledge of GAAP EEO Employer/AA:

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
