This position is primarily responsible for directing the financial activities of the Accounting/Finance Department to ensure efficient, effective, accurate and timely fulfillment and adherence to the company's financial practices, policies, and regulatory compliance.
As a Controller, you will:
Oversee the daily operations of the accounting staff and provide sufficient guidance and training to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet Nicolet needs and objectives, including (1) the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the goals and objectives; (2) the control systems; (3) transaction processing; and (4) policies/procedures.
Manage the Core Accounting Functions - General Ledger, Chart of accounts & cost centers, Accounts Payable, Bank Reconciliations, Internal Control Function, Fixed Assets, and Accounts Receivables, including compliance with Nicolet policies and application of GAAP accounting.
Partner with business lines and departments and understand and advise on appropriate relevant accounting (routine matters, complex or unique transactions, contractual issues).
Provide support for M&A activities, such as liaison for valuation, tax considerations, accounting implications and overall process from a Finance perspective.
Support and coordinate needs and responses for external auditors and examiners.
Coordinate tax reporting to assure tax compliance and timely completion of all returns, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes (Personal Property, Real Estate, Income, Sales and Use).
Support and coordinate use of external tax experts.
Work with various regulatory agencies of the Bank coordinating and communicating through the examination process.
Support CFO as assigned to facilitate the CFO's financial needs & serve as primary back up.
Support and collaboration with Finance Team Leadership as assigned to facilitate any projects and/or duties that arise.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting.
10 years bank accounting experience with SEC financials/reporting.
Broad knowledge of banking, accounting, internal controls, and bank regulations.
10 years of supervisory experience.
CPA or CMA certification.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
