Our Client facility in Green Bay, WI is currently looking for a fulltime Physician to cover a 26
week contract.
ASAP Start, credentialing can take as little as 2 weeks.
NO NIGHTS, WEEKENDS or HOLIDAYS required.
Position Overview:
The Physician in Adult Corrections plays a crucial role in providing medical care to incarcerated individuals within the correctional facility.
This position requires a unique set of skills and knowledge to address the diverse healthcare needs of the inmate population while adhering to the guidelines and regulations of the correctional system.
Responsibilities:
Medical Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conduct thorough medical assessments of inmates, including physical examinations and medical history reviews.
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
Order and interpret diagnostic tests as needed.
Emergency Care:
Respond to medical emergencies within the correctional facility.
Provide immediate care for injuries, illnesses, or other medical crises.
Coordinate with emergency response teams and external healthcare providers when necessary.
Treatment Planning:
Develop and implement treatment plans for inmates, considering the unique challenges of the correctional environment.
Prescribe medications and monitor their effectiveness.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses and mental health professionals, to provide comprehensive care.
Mental Health Assessment:
Assess and address mental health issues among the inmate population.
Collaborate with mental health professionals to develop treatment plans for individuals with psychiatric conditions.
Participate in crisis intervention and suicide prevention efforts.
Infection Control:
Implement and oversee infection control measures within the correctional facility.
Conduct regular screenings for communicable diseases.
Develop and implement strategies to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Health Education:
Provide health education to inmates regarding preventive care and lifestyle choices.
Address specific health concerns relevant to the incarcerated population, such as substance abuse and communicable diseases.
Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for each inmate.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and ethical standards for medical documentation in the correctional setting.
Collaboration with Correctional Staff:
Work closely with correctional officers and administrative staff to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
Provide medical expertise and guidance on issues related to inmate health.
Quality Improvement:
Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance the overall healthcare delivery within the correctional facility.
Stay informed about advancements in correctional healthcare and implement best practices.
Qualifications:
Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
Board certification in a relevant medical specialty.
Current state medical license and any additional certifications required by the correctional facility.
Knowledge of correctional healthcare regulations and standards.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a challenging and dynamic environment.
