The Environmental Technician handles the operation of the waste water treatment and air handling systems while assisting the plant's boiler operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring that the process by-products are dealt with in a safe manner while helping the plant run efficiently by identifying areas for water conservation.
In this role, you will:
o Maintain the operation of waste water treatment and air handling system
o Participate in preventative maintenance on waste water, air control, and boiler equipment
o Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost in waste water, electrical, make-up water and fuel
o Perform process testing on equipment and document all KPIs
o Select targets in the facility for improvements to energy conservation
o Maintain good relationships with members of the utility team and management
The right person for this role demonstrates analytical thinking and strong interpersonal skills combined with a drive for continuous improvement. We're also seeking skills and experience including:
o Certificate in waste water treatment or equivalent work experience
o Strong knowledge of waste water operations or similar process knowledge
o Basic chemistry, air flows and boiler knowledge
o Strong Mechanical aptitude
o Maintain professional and technical knowledge though attending workshops, reading professional publications and participating in professional societies.
