What You Will Be Doing
o Consult with supervisor, other developers and I.T. personnel to gather information about program intent, functions, features, data requirements, input requirements, output requirements, internal and external checks and controls, hardware and operating system environment, and interfaces with other systems.
o Design or writes application specifications based on consultation and analysis.
o Create necessary SQL code to manage application data and assists in database schema design.
o Convert designs and specifications into program code and markup.
o Devise and run test transactions to find errors and to confirm that application meets specifications.
o Analyze and revise program code, markup, and SQL code, in coordination with other developers, for corrections, enhancements, and system environment changes.
o Modify and maintain applications written by others.
o Write and maintain documentation of changes to application code and specifications.
o Design and code layouts for on-screen user interfaces, printed outputs, and interfaces with other systems.
o Perform management-requested analytics on demand using a combination of custom SQL code and existing applications.
o Review user and technical documentation written by others to confirm consistency with application operation.
o Manage code release from development and test environments into production.
o Provide technical assistance for applications by responding to user questions, error reports, and other notifications.
o Train end users or technical support staff to use and support applications.
o Help users in need of hardware/software assistance or guides them to the necessary resources as appropriate.
o Other duties as assigned.
What You Need for this Position
o Three or more years' experience with server-side web programming (PHP a strong plus).
o Three or more years' experience with relational databases and direct SQL code.
o Working knowledge of HTML, Javascript, CSS and PHP
o Experience working with software versioning or revision controls systems such as SVN.
o Must have the ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
o Good problem solving skills are required. Must be able to identify and fix problems within the company's operating systems and recommend improvements to increase internal productivity.
o Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
o Ability to work with end users to determine problem resolutions (that may or may not require programming).
o Must be an analytical thinker, detail oriented, and adept at working in a team environment.
o Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
